Nearly 50 Years in Space
Launched in 1977 to take advantage of a once-every-175-year planetary alignment, the Voyager 1 and Voyager 2 space probes embarked on their mission to visit the outer planets of our solar system: Jupiter, Saturn, Uranus, and Neptune. Almost 50 years later, these spacecraft not only left the heliosphere but are still active, transmitting scientific data back to Earth as they drift through interstellar space. Wow!
Bolted to the side of each probe is a 12-inch Golden Record containing information about humanity and our planet. The cover includes a pulsar star map pointing back to Earth.
To honor this amazing, still-ongoing voyage, this sock design features the Voyager spacecraft, the Golden Record, and a trajectory map of Voyager 1 and Voyager 2 as they traveled through the solar system and beyond. With these socks, you'll be able to keep your memories of the farthest human-made objects close!
