The Nancy Grace Roman Space Telescope is named after the astronomer they call the Mother of Hubble. As NASA's first Chief of Astronomy, Nancy Grace Roman championed the mission that became Hubble. The telescope that carries her name shares Hubble's mirror size but takes in a field of view about 100 times wider, so it can survey enormous stretches of the sky in a single observation.
